Shipping policy


Hatching Eggs

Orders are scheduled on a first come first serve basis. Eggs are shipped via USPS Priority Express. We label all shipments with "Fragile" Labels and ship in our customized Foam shippers to minimize poor handling. Please include your preferred ship date in the notes section of your order. If you leave the notes section blank eggs will be shipped out once the order is available and filled. If we are not able to ship out your order for the date you desired we will reach out to schedule the next available option. Once shipped, the eggs typically arrive in 1-3 business days.

We receive a 95% hatch rate on all of our hatching eggs here at the farm when we use our incubators. We cannot guarantee the hatch rate of shipped eggs because of postal handling as well as how everyone's individual hatching practices differ. We cannot guarantee that they will arrive intact. If there is severe damage to the shipment please reach out so we can see what can be done.

There are no guarantees on hatching eggs. Please buy only if you are willing to risk that they may not hatch. Your eggs can be rendered infertile due to x-rays, be damaged during shipping, or subject to temperature extremes. These are issues beyond my control and are an inherent risk of mailed hatching eggs. 

 

Live Chick Orders

Orders are scheduled on a first come first serve basis for chicks. Chicks are sold as straight run only. For day old chicks, "Chick Shipping" must be selected at check out. If you select "Hatching Eggs" for your shipment method we will reach out to get the additional cost for your Live chick order. If we are not able to get ahold of you we will cancel and refund the order.

For live chicks and hatching eggs we ship Monday-Wed to ensure that items arrive in a timely manner and are not held at the post office over the weekend. Live chicks and hatching eggs will be held at the post office for pickup unless the customer requests otherwise.

We set eggs specifically for orders placed online. Mockingbird Homesteads official policy is that we do not issue refunds or cancellations on orders placed unless we are unable to complete an order within that specific shipping year. You agree to these terms and conditions at checkout when placing an order through us.

Chicks are sent the day of hatch and packed with Gro-gel and heat packs to ensure they stay hydrated and warm during their trip. Chicks are sent Express through USPS and typically take 1-2 days to arrive. Shipping is a flat rate of $65 per box. This includes the cost of shipment, shipping box, Gro-gel and heat packs for the chicks. 1 box holds up to 25 chicks. Any order over 25 chicks will require a second shipping box.

  • Mockingbird Homesteads official policy is that we do not issue refunds or cancelations for orders unless we are unable to complete an order within the shipping season for the year.


  • No returns will be made on live chicks or hatching eggs.
